Is there anything you want to know about public relations?

If so just contact us by email:

How do I start?

This is often a client’s most difficult decision but we are well practised in finding the starting point to any campaign.

How do I measure public relations?

There are myriad tools and methods. Measurement is critical, start with defining the objectives and work out from that point.

How much does PR cost?

A fee is calculated combining time, effort and level of consultancy needed for the project to be successful.

How long does it take before I start seeing results?

Be guided by the lead times. Most sections of the daily paper work weeks ahead with editorial direction set out months in advance. For monthly magazines the lead times are several months in advance.

What does “off the record” mean?

Forget it – there is no such thing, there is no law, contract or code which confirms the existence of this myth. A journalist’s job is to get a story.

What is the difference between public relations and advertising?

Advertising is paying for time or space, to say whatever is desired usually with a lot of adjectives to say wonderful things. Public relations is the opposite. It is a credible media endorsement by a third party.

How do I get a journalist to write a story about me?

Be newsworthy. Not sensationalist. Find news angles and back up the stories with research. Deliver the media release in the style of the chosen journalist.

How do I write a press release?

With blood and sweat. A lot of time and thought goes into a media release. Even deciding which journalist to pitch the story to takes an insider’s knowledge and requires an understanding of the media and a sense of what is newsworthy.

Is any publicity good publicity?

No, no, no. Especially if it makes your share price fall, leaks confidentialities, highlights negatives or undermines your brand.

How do I deal with bad press?

Crisis management is an integral facet of public relations. If the crew from Today Tonight approach you for a doorstep interview, and you don’t have crisis training… hide under the bed.

Will public relations make my phone ring?

Yes, but ensure an overall marketing plan is in place.
